THE MOTHERS UNION (For other activities see Little Pilgrims above and the Baptism page)
The Parish of Whitehaven Mothers Union Branch endeavours to uphold the aims and objects of the Mothers Union in all that if does. The aim of the Society is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life. Meetings are linked to the diocesan theme of the year. In 2012 this is DISCOVER & CELEBRATE YOUR GIFT. The EVENING GROUP meets every 3rd Monday at 7.15pm in the Community Hall. Anyone is welcome to all or any of the meetings. Contact Sheila Kelly on 01946 692360. The AFTERNOON MEETING is on the 1st Tuesday at 2pm at St. Nicholas. Contact June Henderson on 01946 690845.
The Parish Mothers Union group is actively involved in MU, parish and community projects.
Little Pilgrims started in 2007 as one of these community initiatives- see separate entry on page 1 of this Parish Groups page for full details.
Arising from a national MU Initiative 1st Anniversary of Baptism Cards are issued by a parish member, funded by the MU Branch.
We also knit baby garments for the West Cumberland Hospital Special Care Baby Unit, and make 'crosses of love', which are placed in the Baptistry for those who need them for loved ones, or as an aid to personal prayer.
Members no longer able to attend meetings due to illness or age are kept in touch with through prayer and visits.
There are many opportunities to care and share, so all are welcome to join at any time.
